FINALE
THE FINALE

SURVIVORS: 22 ♫
The Manager has been sealed away. All of you are really, truly here, and the hell you've endured for the past three weeks is finally over. No more trials, no more motives. No more death.
The sky is clear, now, sunny as ever. While that may still seem suspicious, the ocean is calm and there are birds (including seagulls) in the sky. The resort is intact, but everything seems to have finally settled down. The dreadful feeling is no more -- unless you're feeling it on your own volition -- and the only thing that seems to stand between you and freedom is the boat you once arrived here on. It is docked, waiting to be ridden once more. It's not leaving for a while yet, but when you board the ship, each of you will be presented with a blank ticket, one that will reflect your final destination, whether it be your own home or someone else's. The choice is yours.
Now would be a good time to say your farewells. Whether or not you'll meet again is unknown, but perhaps someday, your paths will collide once more.
The shard, wherever it now lies, still pulses faintly with energy.

I will. I’m not good at picking out locations, but I’m sure you’ll find a few spots in just a couple of days.
[ It’s because he doesn’t go anywhere… he’ll figure it out. ]

[ ... ]
I'm glad... this is over.
no subject
Me too. I had hoped we would be able to get everyone back when we left, but I know that wasn’t a guarantee.
[ He smiles. ]
I’m glad we did it.

[ Iria didn't think resurrection was possible, so-- ]
That's... quite the optimism.
no subject
[ A possibility was enough for him. ]
I really didn’t want to think about only half of us going home.
no subject
Iria smiles and puts a hand on the top-back of Yuki's head. ]
I was the one using the board, actually. If you knew, it would have been nice if you told them that the questions they asked were useless...
no subject
[ He glances away. ]
I couldn’t think of better questions.

[ Oh well. She pats his head a little while a goose waddles behind and nestles behind their feet and opens its beak. ]
I just fed you a bunch of lettuce!
[ :V feed ]
no subject
[ You know, since ghosts can walk through walls. Yeah.
He eyes the goose. ]
…You have one too.
no subject
[ She sighs, looking down at the goose. ]
It came to us with a big bag of salt.
[ It's the same goose who stole the salt bag from Reigen. ]
no subject
[ Wow. Funny how things worked out. Now Iria has a goose… ]
Is the goose coming back with us?
no subject
[ ... ]
It was very determined to the point it hid among Master Jim's goose cult to come here. I forgot about it and left it behind when... things started happening. It's smart.

[ That isn’t a problem. Shigure has plenty of space for it to run around. And even if Iria ends up staying with Kagura and Rin, that should be fine for it too.
His mind drifts back to her mentioning watching the trials. Tsumugi knew about this as well, so he’s sure Iria watched. ]
…I’m sorry I didn’t tell you everything. I wanted to tell you, but I hope you understand. [ And since he wants her to hear it from him personally, he continues. ] I was given the role of guard along with Kaeya. I continued to remain a guard even after Alan joined me.
no subject
Though, Iria stays quiet as she listens to Yuki talk about his guard role. ]
... Yes, I saw. I was worried for you, but I wasn't mad when I found out. The thought of you meeting the same fate as Kaeya would, at the very least, leave me very distraught.
[ Her voice is quiet. ]
I'm glad I wasn't chosen to be protected, considering how I... "left".
no subject
[ He lets out a small sigh. ]
Kaeya and I agreed to protect you the first week, but Alan and I couldn’t the next week because we couldn’t protect the same person twice in a row.
I had already planned on submitting your name later that Sunday night.

...
She tries to swallow the bitter feeling, since... it would be understandable. She never told him everything. It might as well be that. Though another realization hits her. ]
I never thought I'd be chosen to be protected. It's a little strange for me. Did I seem that likely to be targeted?
no subject
[ He puts a hand on her shoulder. ]
It was based off of our first impressions. I also really liked you just from that first meeting, so it was easy to suggest to protect you.
[ There were a lot of people he liked, but he had to narrow it down on their likelihood of being targeted. ]
no subject
[ Iria is so surprised that she can't really hide her reaction. ]
Though, with how everyone is here, I suppose I would be less likely to fend someone off.
[ She's still a normie despite knowing how to use a sword and throw people. ]
no subject
Yeah, I knew then. I usually know if I like or dislike someone when I first meet them.
[ His family makes it easy for him to quickly know these things, since he’s dealt with all kinds of people. ]
no subject
[ Look................ she'll angst about the execution later ]
no subject
[ He desperately wanted to get to know the other zodiac members, so… ]
I liked Honda-san when I met her too.

First impressions matter a lot to you. I see... I also tend to stick to my first impressions, but I'm ready to revise them at any time.
[ ... ]
Yuki, do you think at the execution of the second week... did I die for nothing? I won't get mad on whichever answer you give me. You see, two people asked me whether it was worth it. I couldn't give them a real answer.
no subject
[ So, he doesn’t think it was for nothing. ]
But that’s for you to decide, isn’t it? It’s your life. What I think doesn’t change how you feel about it.
no subject
You're right. It won't change how I feel about it. I just...
[ ... ]
It wasn't because it was Mr. Yumeno, admittedly. I was just reminded of something unpleasant.

Your brother.
