WEEK THREE - MINGLE

Last week might've been the worst week some of you have ever had. From the hallucinations to losing five of your number yet again, things are looking rather bleak -- and yet, perhaps optimistic, given that you're so close to ending the game. Is it worth sacrificing one more person to end it, though? ... Only one way to find out.

You have time until then, though, to regroup and recollect yourself if you choose to. From Monday morning, after the rain that fell on Sunday, the weather, continues to be more overcast and stormy throughout the week - gray clouds swirl around the sky ominously, and the pleasantly balmy weather that you've come to expect gives way to passing showers with ominous thunder. Perhaps it's not a good time to go for a swim in the pool, but no one's stopping you if that's what you decide on doing. Your locations, likewise, have changed.

The end is almost here. There are only slightly over half your number still remaining. Do your best to survive.

a few things, pre-ouija board

[ On Thursday, the profile walls have some decor.

There are small bunches of colored flowers placed in front of certain portraits. These are:
-Tsumugi: red rose
-Hild: orange daisy
-Iria: yellow carnation, blue hydrangea
-Sweetheart: white peonies painted green, indigo
-Zena: lilac

Below that on the floor, there is a sheet of paper with the colors of the rainbow blocked in with marker and a small puzzle piece taped to the corner.

Anyone in the kitchen can hear the faint sounds of geese honking, along with random things kind of being shuffled around.

Yuki will receive a flower crown outside of his door.

There is also a book floating around on one of the chairs, open, as if someone's reading it. ]

OUIJA BOARD

[ Did you follow the Wikihow instructions on how to set up the ouija board? If so, it's probably thrumming with some kind of energy while it's waiting to be used.

You get five questions. Be careful, whoever you speak with via the board may or may not be a malevolent presence. ]

[With that settled, Akira speaks their first question aloud.]

[ the board rattles, and then the planchette starts to move, slowly, to spell out the following:

Who all is here in this room with us?

[ Aside from the usual rattling of the board that cues a response coming in, Alan and Akira might actually uh.

Be careful of that bookcase shaking and a couple of books being dislodged. One of the books might narrowly miss them as it falls off a shelf.

Anyway, if they look at the planchette after that narrow miss, it's moving a lot more rapidly than usual, spelling out the following:

A-G-K-A-G-Y-I-S

It's followed by a Very Long Pause, and then:

M-J

And right on cue, another book drops off the bookshelf with a thud. ]

[ That sure is weird but guess who is suddenly showing up to ask a question?! ]

Hey, I've got another question for you.

How about telling us a weakness of the creature that's trapped us here~?

[ Another book flies to bonk Xue Yang on the head--

No, that doesn't actually happen. What happens before the board rattles again is that the room's air conditioning suddenly drops a couple of degrees, enough for it to be decidedly chilly in the room and cause goosebumps. Yikes?

Once the temperature drops, however, the planchette moves again, as quick as the previous question's answer:

K-N-I-F-E-.-A-S-K-R-E-A-L-Q-S-. ]

[Spooooky! The sudden chill is noticeable and a little disconcerting, but Akira carries on and follows Xue Yang's line of questioning.]

Where is our captor?

[Asking for a friend with a knife.]

[ The board is rattling a lot more than usual, it seems. Once it stops rattling, the planchette moves a lot more slowly compared to previously, but it spells out:

[ Well, he thinks a bit more about giving another question. Surprisingly, when he speaks it's calmly and without any expletives (lol) ]

Alright guys, I got another one, so listen up.

Did anyone who's come here actually manage to escape, and if not, have you figured a way out or are you able to give us a hint to get out of this fucking shithole?

[ For a moment, the entire reading room is deathly silent.

The planchette moves, strangely, without any rattling.

H-O-W-T-F-I-K-N-O-W

It stays like that, lingering on the W for a while before it sharply jerks towards the GOODBYE, and the board moves.

The motion looks like the start of the board being flipped over, but it's aborted halfway and kind of... clatters around for a bit instead. ]

[ But that's not all that happens, because when the board clatters to a stop, the entire crew's attention will be drawn to what looks like a dimensional rip happening right behind the table where the ouija board is.

Alan will probably recognise the faint red glow that overlays the image behind the void - it's similar to the one he saw on floor 10, but beyond the darkness, beyond the glow, the room that shows up looks very much like the Lobby, albeit a little bit more faded than usual.

Static crackles, and there's a brief screech of noise, but you can hear something: ]

Hello, you have reached your [ suddenly, loud honking in the background ] I regret to inform you that we know very little of                     , and are nearly as in the dark as you all are.

However, I [ even louder honking in the background ] bring you news of what we have found. Perhaps fetch paper                     before I begin?

[A month ago, Alan would have laughed in the face of anyone who told him that he would one day be about to use a ouija board. How things change...]

I don't know exactly how these things work, but I'm guessing we don't get a choice when it comes to what's going to respond to us.

[Cool, the weird thrumming energy radiating off the wedgie weggy luigi Ouija board isn't concerning at all. Guess it must be "working," but there's only one way to know for sure. Akira turns to Alan and casually shrugs.]

Why don't we cut to the chase and ask it the meaning of life?

[That's totally how Ouija boards work. Anyway...]

Let's plan out our questions before we start asking. Have any pressing questions for the dead?

I'd like to ask what happened to Kaeya's body, but I'm not sure we're going to like the answer... if we even get one.

[He frowns. That was a decidedly unpleasant discovery, and he's still more than a little rattled by it.]

[A nod.]

Then that's where we'll start. Depending on our answer, we'll know how to proceed.

[Akira places his fingers on the planchette, tipping his chin to Alan.]

Ready?

[Let's go, bro. Akira won't be menaced by a spoopy piece of cardboard.]

[He nods back, placing his fingers as well. It's as good a starting point as any, and as Akira points out, it might lead them to some other questions.]

[Spooky cardboard and/or ghosts, he's ready for this.]

[Thanks for that, spirits. So far, Akira's not impressed.]

...Let's not expect too much out of our ghost. [Ah, but speaking of ghosts.] Why don't we ask who's in the room with us? That might get us a better answer.

[Or not. Again, faith in Ghost-san is pretty low here. Alan is free to speak the question this time.]

[Don't mind Alan just rubbing at his forehead as if trying to ward off a headache. In fact, he might be trying to do just that.]

At least we've established that it isn't one of our more literate friends.
