WEEK TWO - MINGLE

Has it really been only a week since you found yourself in this place? But just like that, the days have come and gone, and five of your number have been lost. The space seems a little larger, less claustrophobic. By mid-afternoon on Sunday, after the execution, guests will also realise that the hotel is once again pristine thanks to the work of the ever-present faceless and nameless staff members, and the elevators are all in working order again.

Something is peculiar about your rooms, though -- something you may notice after you come back from the execution. Your desks now have a different Polaroid camera on them. This time, each resident gets one with a total of 10 film each. Film for these cameras in particular can be refilled in the gift shop. For Kurama in particular, the camera is larger and built so that he's able to (somewhat) see through the lenses and hit a button with his nose to take the photo. What differentiates these cameras from the ones you received last week is for you to find out.

At precisely 8AM on Monday morning, the fog recedes slightly, allowing just the slightest hint of sunlight to peek through. There is a gentle sea breeze, comfortable weather in every feasible way.

Rise and shine, everyone, it's time to make the day yours, just like the rest of the week. Better enjoy it while it lasts.

[ Iria stays quiet for a moment, staring at Yuki. But then she laughs. ]

I've never really had a person genuinely say that they need someone to nag at them. I thought you mostly had things under control.

[ Yuki looks like he had enough discipline for self control... ]

[ He can barely function for an hour or two when he gets up and he’s generally lazy. He needs this. ]

Oh? What would you usually need nagging for, then?

Turning the lights off when I’m not using a room… vacuuming… taking an umbrella when it rains.

[ Yeah. He may be a little spacey, but Iria knows this well by now. ]

[ Though she means "here" as in general, not just the murder hotel. ]

For me, I was just... really tired.

Because of all your responsibilities?

[ Since he knows Iria has had a lot, what with her family. ]

... I suppose this is a given with prospering families, but they all have dark secrets they'd never want others to find out, even their own children.

[ Because, yeah. He gets it. He really does. ]

[ Iria would normally take those secrets to the grave, but some are more grave than others. Since Yuki knows the bigger part of it, she might as well tell him. ]

My ex... who was initially my fraternal twin brother, was sold to a family. Upon his birth, they changed his place with a stillborn to make it seem as if he died, so my mother didn't even know he was still alive. This transaction was strictly between my father and the other family. I believe it's only my father, the other family, my ex, and I who know about this.

[ It's a fucking load, so it's easy to see why. ]

[ He pauses. That’s hard to hear, and if he loved his parents, he doesn’t know how he would feel about it either. ]

My mother sold me to the head of the family for status. I know it isn’t easy to come to terms with.

[ She's mostly calm about it anyway, despite having told a really big secret and being reminded that Yuki had experienced something similar. ]

Though, no one should experience that. Lives aren't... something you place monetary value on or anything similar.
