WEEK THREE - MINGLE

Last week might've been the worst week some of you have ever had. From the hallucinations to losing five of your number yet again, things are looking rather bleak -- and yet, perhaps optimistic, given that you're so close to ending the game. Is it worth sacrificing one more person to end it, though? ... Only one way to find out.

You have time until then, though, to regroup and recollect yourself if you choose to. From Monday morning, after the rain that fell on Sunday, the weather, continues to be more overcast and stormy throughout the week - gray clouds swirl around the sky ominously, and the pleasantly balmy weather that you've come to expect gives way to passing showers with ominous thunder. Perhaps it's not a good time to go for a swim in the pool, but no one's stopping you if that's what you decide on doing. Your locations, likewise, have changed.

The end is almost here. There are only slightly over half your number still remaining. Do your best to survive.

[ Well... Upon closer look, there's a rectangular box that says "OUIJA BOARD." Next to it is a card. This week features drawings of cartoon fish, one of which is clearly a space ship. Being pulled along by the ship is a stick figure riding on a hoverbanana.

That's interesting, but there also seems to be something going on at the pool outside...! ]

[ A Ouija board! Penny... has no idea what this is, though she at least recognizes the contents of the card. Hovernanas... maybe Akira will like this, then.

The disturbance by the pool is also potentially noteworthy, though, so Penny will carefully tuck the board and card under her arm and cautiously head that way. ]

[Very perceptive of you, Penny! The hovernanas are a portent of Akiras to come.

When she makes her way to the pool, she'll find him skiing on the water with his trusty hovernanas guiding him along the surface of the water. When Penny arrives, he'll whip off his sunglasses and greet her with a peace sign.]

Cowabunga.

[...He doesn't sound as enthusiastic as usual on account of all his friends dying, but he's trying his best.]

[ At the totally tubular greeting, Tylor tosses one of his own over his shoulder at Penny. He's decided to deck himself out in resort branded fishing gear and has a line already out into the water. This is totally safe while Akira is hover banana-ing.

With a little wave and a smile-- ]

[ Finding Akira and Justy at the swimming pool aside, though, once Penny approaches the pool with ouija board and card at hand (instructions in the box, for those following at home), the reason for their being at the pool is kind of obvious.

The swimming pool is filled with fish. It is a fish pond now. ]

[ This is, without a doubt, one of the weirdest things Penny has seen at the hotel before. Water skiing with hovering bananas? Fishing in a swimming pool? It's behavior that casts a concerning light over Akira and Justy's mental state of being to be sure.

Penny's response is the only one that makes any sense to her. ]

Sal-u-tations, Justy and Akira!

[ That is to say: a cheery greeting with a cheery expression, albeit one also undercut with the weariness of seeing so many people she likes die in such a short period of time. Even so, skiing with hovering bananas brings a certain friend of hers to mind, and that puts her in a better mood right away. ]

I am so pleased to have located both of you! I found something I think may have been intended for you!

[ And then she notices... the fish. And her expression morphs into one of intense concern. ]

I do not believe a chlorine environment provides an idea living condition for fish. We should consider extracting them to a safer container as soon as possible.

Really? The fish don't seem to mind.

[Akira's well aware that a chlorinated swimming pool is no place for a bunch of fish, but they're... you know, looking lively and no doubt having a good time? Let them live their lives, Penny.

Still, Akira's getting hungry and wondering if Justy's managed to snag anything they can grill up and eat for lunch. Penny's welcome to join them! When Akira dismounts from his skis and steps onto dry land, there's just one little problem.

One of those fish is gripping tightly to his exposed ankle, rows of spiny teeth digging right into his skin. Oww?!]

Big mistake.

[Said to the fish, and if Penny were to assume Akira's reaction is a little uncharacteristically severe, she'd be right. Thanks, motive.

Reaching down, Akira yanks that fish off his ankle and doesn't hesitate to fling it as far and as hard as he can. The plan is to yeet it into the great beyond, but instead, it bounds off a hovernana and lands squarely on Justy's forehead. Oww!]

[downtowndance]

[ Of course, Tylor is just trying to peacefully catch some fish before one of their brave brethren smacks him squarely in the face.

The slimy slap resounds first, followed by Tylor's yell as he falls backwards out of the patio chair. His poor, resort branded fishing rod clatters to the pool deck to accompany the sound of his struggle with a fish on land.

By the time he realizes what's happening, the oversized chlorine fish has latched onto the finger connected to the hand being flailed around.
Help. ]

[ ... Hm.

Penny sets down her newly acquired Ouija board (hopefully out of range of any more fish being flung around) and trots over to where Justy is failing around. She has to lean back away from a few errant swipes with the fish, but after a moment she manages to reach out and lock a surprisingly firm grasp around Justy's wrist. ]

Please hold still.

[ And then, in what she clearly assumes is a reassuring tone: ]

If you do not allow me to remove the fish it may sever your finger completely.

[jokey]

[Is he about to witness the death of Justy's finger or will a miracle unfold before his eyes? Akira's curiously spectating while Penny assists his poor clownrade in arms.]

Hand me that fish when you're done with it.

[Or rather, when the fish is done with Justy... Akira didn't heat that grill up for nothing!]

[ Surprisingly, he's not bad at following her directions despite the dramatically pained sound he makes and their scaly friend's continued fight. He keeps flipping like his life depends on it. Luckily, Penny, his savior, distracts him from the pain. ]

Oh wow, you're not scared of this guy at all. Don't let him sample you too.

[ But then there's the thought of food. Tylor lets Penny have his embattled hand in favor of looking over to Akira and then back down at the angry fish. ]

Wonder what it'll taste like...

A fish this size would not be able to do any genuine harm to me. But I appreciate your concern.

[ She guesses these guys really want to eat this thing, huh? Penny manages to get the fish off of Tylor after a moment of struggle and probably a few extra scrapes on Tylor's finger. Once she does she looks at Akira... ]

[ ... And throws the fish right back into the pool. ]

Considering that you are responsible for the fish's escape from the pool, your behavior is extremely inappropriate. You should have assisted.

[Oh, he's being scolded... Well, so much for eating a piranha. The chance of a lifetime slips back into the pool and Akira makes no move to retrieve it, finding it more prudent to apologize for his, uh, everything.]

Sorry?

[...But it's not a very sincere apology, because why should he be sorry for aggressing a fish? The fish had it coming. Justy's finger was an unfortunate victim of a mistake they've both fully committed to, but with that said—]

Anyway, you came here to deliver our Ouija board, right? I'm glad it didn't explode in your hand or something on the way over.

[One never knows what the manager's strange items will do.]

Aw, man.

[ Tylor watches futily as his finger fish happily returns uneaten to the water. Setting back up seems like a lot of effort. Instead, he lives here on the ground now, cross legged and eventually looking over at them while they talk. ]

Oh. So you found the spirit thing?

[ Now that the main drama is over, if anyone else nearby wants to spectate or join in, this thread is now open. ]

[ Well, at least she got an apology?

It'll have to do. For now, she just answer's Justy's question: ]

I did. It came with a card, which had illustrations that made me believe it may have been intended for the two of you.

[ She'll show them both the card in question. ]

[ The card in question is a fairly accurate depiction for a stick drawing, but what is more important are the two lines of instructions that come with it on the other side of the card:

Good for FIVE questions only, choose your questions wisely.
Be careful of who you speak with.

Inserted into the top of the box above the ouija board itself is a Wikihow-style illustration on how to set up an ouija board. ]

[Akira takes the card and turns it front and back. Ah, right. This is Justy's drawing. Akira's grown rather fond of them, but he'll turn the card back over to Penny regardless, shaking his head.]

Justy drew that himself. Nice touch, right? Delivering items with a special card just felt more personal.

[Alcina walks by with swim gear in hand, like she was considering spending some time in the pool. But once she peers down and sees the pool full of fish, that is no longer a consideration.

She doesn't even ask. She just sighs deeply, because this may as well be happening.]

[ Presumably still on the ground, with his injured finger held up, Tylor smiles brightly up at her with a suggestion. ]

Good mo--afternoon. Don't worry, the jacuzzi is still fish free. [ Well, he didn't really check, so don't mind him glancing over now. ] ... I think.

[ Yeah, sure why wouldn’t they have a pool full of fish and a Ouija board too. ]

What is even happening anymore…?
